2007 chevy trailblazer – CEL, traction control, inop fuel gauge, lights dim at low rpm, intermittent 4WD.
      Video attached:

I am currently on vacation & have limited access to tools. I bought a DVOM and have eliminated battery & alternator as possible causes (battery 12.5v, alt 14.5v – 13.9v under load, ac ripple 32v.) Applied ground to engine and chassis and no change. As a shot in the dark (and I hate throwing parts at a problem but I’m doing the best I can with what I got) I cut out the C101connector per TSB which would have accounted for all failures.

Normally I would love to pull up alldata, get a scan tool on the vehicle & go to town. So I’m not looking for a “how do you fix my car” response… hopefully someone has seen this before & can recognize this as a possible common problem & maybe give me a point in the right direction. Thank you in advance.

P.s. And yes… that is a dying power steering pump you hear in the background which I am more than happy & willing to replace once all the warning lights are clear.

see if this helps. The ignition switch may be suspect. Also
if you have a tilt column try moving it to see if the lights change.

Have a few trouble codes with this vehicle… although the engine seems to be running very smooth & nice:

So it appears that there is a timing issue of some sort… possible cam phaser malfunction I would guess… resulting in low idle rpm. MAF sesnsor and fuel gauge diag should be pretty straight forward.

Q: any techs here familiar with any known issues with chevy trailblazer timing that could point me in the right direction?

              Thank you in advance.

              Pun intended.

Might want to look at this concerning your P0017

Get a can of sea foam and pour it in the engine letting it run.The cam phaser is probally sticky and I have seen this fix it.

It may be a cam phaser as suggested, but I would correct the electrical issue first. Electrical issues can cause the computer to set all kinds of codes. Therefore I would repair the electrical issue, clear the codes, and see if they come back.

It may be an ignition switch issue as pointed out. That may involve having the lock cylinder replaced which may mean reprogramming to make it all work. Not something you do on vacation.

More general info on solving electrical issues here.

I looked up dome light problems on this vehicle and there were too many possible causes to list. I don’t know if there’s something to the ignition switch theory, but if not, I would say a charging system problem.

Good luck and please keep us updated on your progress.
