      Hi all,

      I have a 2006 CH Mitsubishi Lancer with the 2.4L 4G69 Engine and I have an Intermittent No crank/no start condition.

      I DO have a check engine light right now, but the code is for an O2 sensor heater issue, and I’ve had the no crank issue for a while now, but it seems to be getting worse.

      When I go to start it I get nothing, dash lights go out while the key is in the start position, but nothing else happens, no sound of a starter solenoid click.
      I typically have to cycle the key back back to the lock position and back to start a few times to get it to start.

      Once she starts up everything is absolutely perfect.

      The battery is about a year old, it tests all good and seems to be getting a good charge. I’ll clean up the battery terminals tomorrow, but it all looks in pretty good shape already.

      I’m thinking about a possible issue in the ignition barrel, but I don’t want to go pulling the dash apart unless it’s a good bet that’s where my issue lies.

      Any thoughts or idea would be appreciated guys!

        Along with just the battery terminal connections, you should inspect their connecting points to the engine, including grounds.
        Might also check the main start relay (if so equipped)

          Begin with the electrical schematic for start circuit.
          BBBind.com has schematics.
          Wire a test light from test point to drivers side.
          When doesn’t crank and light doesn’t light you’ve narrowed down problem.
          Eventually you will find intermittent in wiring or ign switch/ P/N switch/ start relay or starter.

          If no crank is constant then of course you can test start circuit more easily with test light in hand.
          P/N switch in automatic transmissions- try starting in neutral to test switch.
          Start relay – swap with like relay.

            I’ve cleaned up all the grounds around the engine bay. There were a few that were not so good, and there was a fair bit of corrosion hiding under the positive battery post that wasn’t obvious with the battery connected. Haven’t had any issues starting the car today, so we’ll just have to see how it goes. Thanks for the ideas everyone, if it happens again I’ll have some more things to chase down.
