I will be changing the transmission on my 2006 Honda Accord 2.4L I-4 Automatic Transmission soon.

I just found out from DriveAccord forum that there is an inline transmission oil filter just below the air air filter. I called my local Honda dealer. They don’t stock them because they don’t change them during drain/fill service. But they will change the filter inside the transmission and inline filter during transmission repair.

My Accord has 212k Km. I have not changed the inline filter for the last 10 years. Just drain and fill.
Any suggestion – replace or NOT replace the inline filter during transmission drain/fill?
Why Honda engineer put a inline filter and they are changing it regularly.

For the new trans replace it. If you wanted to do it on the first fluid change
Just to be sure of any junk that was floating got caught. After that leave it.

I don’t have problem with my transmission from factory. The inline filter has not been changed as it is not a requirement at the dearler. I drained and filled with Honda OEM auto transmission oil once a year. I will change the inline filter if I change or repair done to the transmission.
