2006 GTO strut bearing

We changed the right side strut bearing. the bearing was shot. The mechanis said it had too much play (UP and down)? After we changed it ,there is still some play in it, but both sides are about the same, Do you think they are ok !(NORMAL) The shocks should be good because he said nothing about them, just the right bearing !
