2006 gto strut bearing

I have a 2006 gto. after an inspection the mechanic told me that the right strut hsd a one inch play in it ? He said it was the strut bearing. I am a little confused with pics of the top of the strut assembly. Is there a difference with the top strut bearing and the top strut bushing or are they the same. Is the bearing connected to the top of the spring. I saw on ebay a guy selling two springs and a top strut bushing. It is a cone shaped rubber bushing with a round metal shaft bushing through it. Anyone have any advice on this or pics that show me the difference. Thanks Matt
