I am looking for advice from my fellow car lovers. I currently own a 2006 Grand Prix base model with the 3.8 series III. It runs good and I have kept the mileage down. It only has 61k on it and I have flushed the coolant, tranny fluid and keep up on oil brakes and filters. The front end makes crunching noise when pulling out from a stop. It is much more noticeable when cold out. I also get some clunks when hitting bumps in the front end. The tie rods and swaybar links seem fine. I just had it aligned and they said everything was fine. My thought are control arm busing worn or engine mounts. The car handles fine and has not play or vibration. In addition I am concerned about the shifting of the transmission. I don’t care for the way the newer transmission shift. Coming out of 1st going into 2nd of feels like a very soft shift and sometimes feels like it’s slipping. My dads 2000 Grand Prix has lost over drive and it had the same engine and transmission just older. Am I going to have to deal with the same issue soon?
I am looking at possibly trading the 2006 Grand Prix for a 2011 Nissan Altima with the 2.5 i4 engine and the CV transmission. What’s everyone’s idea on the Altima with 30k on it? Good or bad choice? Should I keep my Grand Prix?
