I have a 2006 ford taurus 3.0 that runs rough at idle especially under load such as putting it into gear while holding the brake. Reminiscent of a bad EGR valve or dpfe or solenoid. it did have a code for random cylinder misfire, catalyst effeciency below normal threshold, I replaced EGR valve and solenoid and now the po300 is gone but as well the the catalyst effeciency, but now it shows a po301 to cylinder one after replacing egr valve. it still runs sporadically rough at idle and I can hear a missfire, the intake seems sealed and I have applied smoke to it to find a vacuum leak but still nothing. any ideas?

When´s the last time it had new plugs ? If it´s the same cylinder every time, surely something is up.

I just replaced plugs, wires, oil and filter, EGR valve and EGR solenoid.

Okay. Have you checked the nozzles ? Could be the one on cylinder one isn´t working quite as it should. It would be easiest to check with an oscilloscope.

Or you could swap it around with a nozzle from one of the other cylinders. If the misfire moves to that cylinder as well, you have your culprit.

You mean the injectors? an oscilloscope like a varus? no I dont have that kind of equipment but I do know I will be moving injectors to see what happens.
