I recently bought a 2006 CRV auto trans with 155k miles on it. It looks like it was well taken care of for the duration of previous owner. I noticed that during acceleration only between 15-25 miles per hour that I get a shaking/shimmy/shuddering under the driver seat. There is no vibration in the Steering wheel at all. It starts at about 15 mph, peaks at its strongest at about 20 mph and tapers off until it hits 25 and then nothing. Trans shifts smoothly.

The vibration happens right after shifting into the first gear from a stop. Then, its peak shaking is about the middle of that gear and goes away completely right before shifting into the following gear. Ive tried just easing the foot on the pedal to slowly drive as well as giving it a good amount of gas and each time the result is the same. Its just more noticable at slower acceleration it seems.

Things I have done in the past few months after buying the car:

2 drain and fills of trans fluid with Honda fluid about 1k miles apart.
drained and fill of rear axle. honda fluid
exchanged some power steering fluid. honda fluid
new pads and rotors on front
      changed serpentine belt
changed drive side trans mount hoping that would help but no difference.

The previous owner had the front axles and shocks replaced along with new tires shortly before selling.
I have driven this car for about 5k miles now and it drives great other than that particular speed. Highway speeds there are no vibrations at all. So, Im a bit perplexed. Just trying to see if its anything I can or diagnose myself before bringing it in.
      thanks

Did some research on your vehicle on Identifix and the transmission seems to be a common problem. Sounds like you were on the right path with the transmission service. Possibly a torque converter shudder. Unfortunately the only way to fix was to replace the transmission. Might just drive it and see if eventually it goes away as the new fluid works its way into the torque converter. you did good by using the honda fluid. thats the only fluid i would put in a honda transmission. Also if this is a AWD you could Remove the driveshaft to the rear end and see if the shutter goes away. If so then look into the rear end for your shudder.

A shake under the seat can mean the rear tires are not balanced. It is THE classic symptom… Another thing might be an inner CV joint. To diagnose for inner CV joint, when the vehicle is shaking, turn the wheel slightly and see if the shaking goes away… If it does, it is very likely that the opposite side of the turn has the bad CV joint (you turn left and it stops, then the right one is the issue, vice versa)

            Good luck

I would check the transmission mounts. The rubber bushings might be failing or a bolt has snapped. It could also be motor mounts but transmission mount/brace is more likely.

At those speeds it definitely identifies as torque converter shudder. It’s not a completely uncommon issue either. And removing the rear driveshaft to rule out a rear diff issue would be prudent.

Just an update that this is now fixed. I was planning on getting new tires put on and while I was doing my brakes a bit ago I noticed a ball joint possibly going bad as well as some worn bushings on the control arms. Nothing was cracked full through, maybe the worst was about 20% torn. The previous owner changed out the tires, front axles and struts with the cheapest parts available. I changed out all the struts and the shaking went away by about 60-70%. I tried changing the control arms but the weather prevented me from getting too far into it with trying to break free the ball joint so I just had the local shop do it with the tires. After changing all 4 struts, all brand new tires, front control arms and front axles it drives like brand new now. Im very relieved it wasnt anything with the transmission (knock on wood)
