I have a 2006 Nissan Altima. I thought that I had a loose inner tie rod end. After removing the protective boot I found that the inner ball joint is fine but it looks like excessive play on the rack and pinion.
I took a video of it:

What do you guys think about it?? Is it too much?? Or is it normal?
Can anything be done with this other than replacing the whole rack and pinion??

I may be wrong but didnt they have a recall on them for excessive play in the rack and pinion? im not forsure if they did or not. It doesnt look to bad but i dont think its supposed to have that much play. Is it real bad while your driving it?

          The steering feels “sloppy”/loose.

Looks like it needs a rack to me.

Thanks for the video and keep us posted.
