I have a 2006 TSX. Changed the tires ~1,000 miles ago. banana: The car came with Michelin Pilot MXM4, replaced with another set around 55,000 miles.

The second set lasted until 95,000 when i decided to go for the Michelin Primacy MXM4.

My question is on cold days (below 32F) when I am merging onto the highway at around 60mph, and only in the 60-64mph range does the ground starts to shake in the car steering doesn’t shimmy too much. Maybe 2mm left and right. When I reach 70mph+ no shaking whatsoever. It’s as if the tires have to “Warm up.” All wheels are balanced. Even with roadforce. This is bizarre because on warm days this problem is Non-existent.

The car has been doing this with the last two sets of tires. I rotated the tires yielding the same results. Checked the suspension, even having a second set of eyes, and found nothing. Any suggestions on what else to check? Rims are confirmed to be round, and torqued to 80 ft-lbs.

Nothing catostrophic with the shaking, I can live with it because it lasts ~2-3 minutes tops. It’s just driving me crazy wanting to know what it might be?!

      Thanks!

I can’t think of a balance problem that goes away after three minutes of driving and I can’t think of a suspension problem that does that either. So, I think it has something to do with the tires. I’d suggest the tires are flat spotting.

Only thing with the tires are the previous and current set does this. The Michelin Primacy MXM4 on it now are brand new (all four) with 1,000 miles. It shakes on the front end if that helps? Would an inner CV have something to do with this?

          Thanks!

I have an 08 TSX, and I too have noticed slight vibration that occurs initially and appears to originate from the driver’s side front wheel. I’ve attributed it to flat-spotting of the tires, as barneyb suggested, where the tire temporarily “remembers” being parked but smoothes out as the car is driven. When the tire is cold, the material is less pliable, and the induced vibration is more pronouced, especially at higher speeds.

That’s normal. The TL’s are even worse about this. You need to drive it for a little bit before the tires warm up and become ’round’.
