Hello everyone!
I am switching gears a little today, latterly. My friend has a 2005 XC90 with the 5 cylinder 2.5 turbo and the automatic 5 speed transmission with the Geartronic feature. My buddy recently noticed that there is a strange extra shift between 3rd and 4th gear. It almost feels like a partial shift that shouldn’t be there and isn’t pronounced at the other normal shifts. You can also duplicate this when you switch it over to manual and shift through the gears. after shifting into 3rd it shifts on it’s own again without you even touching the shiftier.
I also wanted to mention he has an ABS light on that Volvo has diagnosed as being being the ABS module and or the ABS pump. They want $4,000 to repair the ABS issue and said the tranny and ABS software is up to date. The also claim the transmission has no issue but never had anything to say about the “extra shift”. Does anyone out there have any insight on this weird extra shift and could the ABS codes be causing this? Also does anyone know if the ABS issue can be repaired cheaper and where can I obtain a code reader that reads Volvo ABS codes? Thanks!!!
