      Hi,

I have an 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S. For the past couple of weeks, it makes a grinding/rattling sound from the front of the vehicle, probably at the wheels – I am not sure. But it only happens when I get off from the freeway, that means after I have driven it in high speed for a while. The sound goes off gradually after some time. The sound goes off also when I speed up, but its possible that I don’t hear it as the engine sound increases. But I am 100% confirm that the sound does not exist when I first start the car, only happens after driving at high speed for a while.

      Thanks in advance.

It could be a wheel bearing going bad. More in this link.

Sorry, I forgot to mention this happens only when I’m accelerating. So, I am assuming its not the wheel bearing.

You accelerate getting off the freeway? Your first post makes it sound like a bearing. Your 2nd post contradicts your first. But maybe your cv’s while under load

Thank you for your reply. I don’t accelerate getting off the freeway, I meant to say after getting off the freeway, when I accelerate, I hear the sound.

Okay, so here’s what I’ve found while trying to recreate the noise-

The car makes a grinding/screeching noise while revving (not when cold, after driving for sometime on freeway). As this happens while in Park also, I am assuming its not the cv. Could it be from one of the pullys of the serpentine belt assembly?

                  see if this helps.
