Got a question I have a 2005 honda odyssey lx and about 2 hours of driving the transmission starts overheating and slipping I get 2 codes from it P0746 and P0747 thinking about getting a transmission cooler to band aid it tell a transmission comes around for it .I have done a 3 gallon flush after the first time worked for a little while longer than 2 hrs straight ,then same with the same 2 codes and slipping ???? Guessing a bad torque converter or bad radiator cooler. It’s still goes into gears just fine until it gets hot then its slip city….

Possible causes:
Low transmission fluid level
Dirty transmission fluid
Faulty line pressure solenoid valve
Line pressure solenoid valve harness is open or shorted
Line pressure solenoid valve circuit poor electrical connectionTech notes:
When a transmission solenoid is malfunctioned, in most cases the problem is not the electrical part of the solenoid; the problem is foreign material obstructing the mechanical function of the solenoid or the flow of the fluid through the transmission valve body. If the transmission fluid is dirty, it’s recommended to change the transmission fluid and if possible removing the transmission pan for further diagnosis. Excessive debris or metal particles on the transmission pan could be an indication that there is a mechanical transmission failure and that the transmission will need to be rebuilt or replaced.IMHO a external transmission cooler is not a solution.
You need to correct the issue with in the transmission.
Being you stated you’ve flushed the transmission..
I assume:
You used Honda transmission fluid.
You confirmed the proper fluid level.Yes used hondas full synthetic auto trans fluid and yeah kept and eye on it for a good while still at the right level just black and full of material 🙁 it works great until it heats up after 2 hrs and I’ve looked quite a bit and it’s a frequent problem with these transmissions cause they have to carry so much weight for how small it is ,and some people put coolers on them right away cause earlyer ones had the same problem but if I havnt removed too much material I was thinking a 3 gallon flush again prolly not with honda just cost too much I’ll use some generic full synthetic it’s what honda recommends if you cant get it from a deal . from the line and fill again .And a cooler cause it still drives around just if i drive for too long it starts slippin like a hour and a half . I know its prolly not gonna fix it but if I can keep the fluid cool it will keep driving
