Hi and thanks for your help!
I have a 2005 Honda Element A/T 145K miles, serviced reasonably well. Cold starts ok, idling at about 1200rpm. However, it immediately stalls when I put it in gear.

If I let it idle a long time to warm up then it drives fine with no stalling. The “Check Engine” light does NOT come on…

      Any suggestions? Thanks!

Thanks for your suggestion. I finally got around to cleaning the IACV and throttle body.. Sprayed the daylights out of it with TB cleaner. Got it pretty shiny throughout. Unfortunately, this didn’t fix the problem at all! Someone mentioned a temp sensor that could cause this problem. Any ideas anyone? THANK YOU!!!

Would it make sense that swapping out the IAT sensor would solve the problem?

I don’t believe the IAT is your problem. It seems temp related, What does the vehicle idle at warmed up?

Thanks so much for your help. Warm it idles steady at about 700rpm. At start up it is at about 1200.

Go through the tedious task of checking for vacuum leaks

Two things I’m thinking. Either the IAC is not working right or is getting lazy or your valves need adjustment.
