      Hey everyone,

My father has a 2005 Toyota Highlander with 210,000 miles on it. When the A/C is turned on, it blows cold, but you can hear a loud rattling noise that is clearly coming from the A/C compressor. I’ve never come across this issue before, but I’m assuming that it’s just the bearings in the pulley. Should I just replace the pulley? If so, can I do so without removing the compressor from the car? Is it better to just replace the whole compressor? Or, should I leave it alone since the air blows cold?

      Any thoughts would be great.

      Thanks,

      Matt

If the rattling noise is not heard when the compressor is off it could be something in the compressor clutch or the magnet is not pulling in enough to hold it tight to the compressor

Would that cause the air conditioning to stop working correctly? Right now, the air blows cold.
