my 2005 dodge ram right rear turn signal not working … the front signal flashes fast and the flasher clicks in the fuse box…i replaced the bulbs with part store bulbs and did not work, then i replaced the tail light circuit board at the light…i did not find any damaged wires…but i’m getting 9 volts flashing at the connector..is the ground a problem? i have been unable to find a wiring diagram for this circuit.. if anyone knows what’s the probable cause..please let me know…

ps i did check the trailer light circuit and it is working fine with the ground on t

no i haven’t checked for power before the socket…i checked for power at the main connector pins at tail light circuit board…thanks for the links ..i saw there might be control module problem near the fuse box or a fuse box problem…i may look into this…i’m also unsure if the lights are positive activated or negative activated? i want to temporary jump it with trailer light wire so i can at least have a working light…

It’s interesting you mention trailer wiring because I was going to ask if you had it. Since you do, I would be checking there for the issue. Check the connections where the harness is wired in to be sure there is no corrosion or damage. More info on solving problems like this here.

the trailer harness connector was completely corroded…i had to cut the wires off back a few inches to even get power…but i also had to install a fuse in the fuse box under the hood to get that trailer harness working… i noticed all wires do come to through one harness to back of truck..should i be using a test light for kind of problem? i’ve been using a multimeter for testing..and it confusing me…

Good find. A test light is an easy quick tool to use. Personally I like my PowerProbe as it can do a little more than a regular test light.

just watched Solving Electrical Problems Acura Vigor…and remembered this is not the first time a electrical problem with lights has happened… the park lights fail to turn on with headlight switch…the mechanic who sold me the vehicle had jumped the relay pins 12v cons. to the lights strait and put in a toggle switch.. I’m thinking something around this fuse box has failed again.. as in your acura..i will recheck the fuses the way you did next..and see if there control module somewhere there….thanks for video…

I wouldn’t go right for the fuse box just yet. Remember that I’m the one that fried it. I’d be focused on that corroded wring in the trailer harness. I’ve seen issues with that cause problems with lighting in the past. Several occasions actually. In fact, I’d wager once you get that sorted out you could take the parking lights off of the toggle switch.

                    Good luck, keep us posted.

just to UPDATE I bought one of those red LED 12inch light strips and installed on the tail light and hooked up to the now working trailer harness as temporary fix to avoid a ticket.. I need to now concentrate on the stalling issue in the cold since winter coming soon… 🙁
