I just did a intake system cleaning with BG ISC on my cavalier and now when I shift from park to reverse or drive, or between drive and reverse it shift really hard. Also when it shifts gears it shifts really hard. Can anyone tell me what and why? I never got out of second gear because when it did that I parked it so I don’t know if it does it in higher gears or not. The check engine light is on now but that’s normal when you run a fuelee on a car; so I don’t know if it’s from the fuelee, or something much more serious since it is shifting so hard all the sudden.

If your idle speed changed then that could cause harsh shifting. If you removed the throttle body for cleaning this could also cause issues. In a situation where you have a performance problem and a check engine light it’s usually a good idea to start by pulling the codes and diagnosing those first. Don’t ignore them, they are your best clues as to what the problem might be.

          Keep us posted.
