I am getting a battery light on the dash saying the battery isnt charging- but only intermittently—– I checked it myself- 13 volts on battery sitting- and 14 4 with the car running- i went ahead and took it to advance to have it tested and got the same results- It happens when you drive it- you can see the battery gage on the dash drop to about 10 volts— and the battery indicator light comes on—– Advance said the alternator is good- because it is charging to 14.4 volts but the customer sadi when he drives it at night the battery light willl show briefly on the dash and the lights will dim- It sounds like the alternator to me- all the connections are good,, no corrosion So any other suggestions to check before i put another alternator in- this is the original alternator in the car- 2004 yukon—-

So the problem only happens when the headlights are on?

The battery light and battery not charging indicator comes on anytime- not only when the lights are on- but its affecting the lights when they are on, they will dim when the battery light comes on—-

You said you had Advance test it. Was it just the alternator or the battery too? I would get both the alternator and batery tested, and check all the main grounds.

They checked both battery and alternator- and all the grounds and connections are good- it just seems to have a lull or something that causes the battery light and battery not charging light to come on and it happens about every 30 seconds-the gage on the dash drops to about 10 volts and then goes back up to 14 so again, all things are pointing to the alternator but would like to know if anything else would cause this ??
