      Hey guys,

I just put some brand new struts in my sisters 2004 Pontiac Grand Am (4 cylinder).

They were Gabriel struts complete with springs and mounts.

The job was pretty easy, and I’ve been looking forward to doing my first strut job for a while now. Finally got a nice break in the weather to get it done.

So after I put everything together, I took the car for a spin. The complaint was that there was a grinding noise with the old strut mounts. I figured since the struts had 100k on them that even though the mounts were the major issue, that it was probably best to replace the whole unit.

Anyway, now my sister is saying that the steering wheel is just a lil’ bit loose. It wasn’t doing that until after I did the repair. I noticed the same thing on my test drive.

      Any thoughts?

It could be that the old strut plates were badly seized and now is much more free to steer. Just in case go over your work and make sure everything is connected and tight.

The car probably needs an alignment also.
