I have been having an on going issue with the A/c and heater. First the after driving the car for 45min or so straight the air stops flowing thru the vents. This happen both in the summer and winter. The systems seems to work fine before it acts up. I replaced the resistor for ATC and did not help. Then something decided to stop sending the signal to the relay to turn compressor on. Was out of town and the mechanic bypassed the relay with a toggle switch so compressor always is running. He thought that maybe the ecu was acting up or the atc head unit was acting up. Not sure if the issues are related but am open for suggestions. It was 107 the other day when the air flow stopped coming out of the vents. It blows cold air when everything is working right.

It sounds more like the blower motor is shutting off, not the compressor. It could be the fan speed resistor. You may want to take it into a reputable shop and have them do some electrical diagnostics. It could be any component(s) between the climate control interface and the fan motor.

If the air stops bowing. Then its your blower circuit
having a problem. You will need to test for power
up to the blower resistor card.

When the air stops blowing thru the vents you can still hear the blower motor running

If it’s running, then you may have an obstruction or it’s maybe a vent gate sending the air else where in the vehicle. Typically you shouldn’t be able to hear the blower motor. So there may be something wrong with the motor itself or the fan attached to it.

I had that problem before. I had to Flush out the heater core. On the firewall located the heater hose & cool hose. Take off the clamps. There two metal pipes, Put a garden hose one of the pipes & let it flush out till runs clear, then repeat on the other side. Put it back together & make sure coolant is full.

A bad heater core wouldn’t cause the climate control to stop blowing air.
