🙁 Hello All you Dirty Fans! This morning after parking my Jeep and pulling up the lever to apply the parking brake, I heard and felt a “pop”, and the lever went limp. It still gives a weak clicking noise when applying, and the parking brake indicator light still illuminates and goes out when they lever is pulled up or released. But there is no pull pressure applied to the tensioner cables leading to the rear wheels to contract the brake pads to hold the vehicle. I elevated the vehicle and crawled underneath and watched while my buddy moved the lever up and down, but I couldn’t see any thing move, or even locate the tensioner cables leading to the rear wheels. By the way this is a full time 4X4 vehicle if that makes a difference. Anyone have any ideas what repairs I may be facing, and what parts may be required? I live in Atlanta, Ga. and also interested in Honest and Fair auto repair in the area. Thanks everyone and Happy Holidays!!

If no resistance is felt. Then it sounds like the E-
brake cable has snapped.trace from the rear brakes up
to the e brake lever.see if this link helps.

I would guess a cable has snapped somewhere. There is usually a main junction that connects to the lever and then it branches off into 2 other cables going to each rear wheel. If any one of those cables break you’ll get the symptom you have now. The cable you’re looking for may be inside the vehicle BTW so don’t forget to check there.
