I just replaced my timing belt and water pump on my 2004 Honda Pilot. Shortly after replacing it I’ve been dealing with a misfire code and rough idle while stopped at a traffic light or stop sign. During really cold weather conditions the rough idle tends to go away. I didn’t have any of these issues before I replaced the timing belt and water pump. I just replace the crankshaft and cam positioning sensor thinking that I may have damaged them.

So, I cold weather the rough idle went away. You might try to use the supreme gas that have higher octane that are really stable to not ignite prematurely as ordinary gas. Octane is the combustion of car, but high octane mean also no impurity as diesel that ignite on compression.

Second thing, a dirty valve cause rough idle because you have less oxygen in the combustion chamber. If you had a defect cam shaft sensor, you will not be able to star your engine.

Third thing, a new belt make a bit more noise because It’s not wear a bit.

Did you change It yourself ? A third party person can cause more problems.

I changed it myself all timing marks are in alignment, the issue began as soon as i started up the truck up, I’m thinking that the coolant system may have an air pocket

It’s might be the case, air in the coolant block increase the normal noise. Coolant absorb more noise. You might watch the ericthecarguy bleeding Technic.
