Hey guys,
I joined a while ago, but unfortunately it’s been a while since I have posted here. I got my first car a little more than a month ago – a 2004 Honda Accord EX-L with a 5speed manual transmission and 4 cylinder VTEC engine.
The car is a one-owner, no accident vehicle with 123k miles on it currently (purchased with 121k miles). I got a really good deal on it, $5600. It has been flawless so far, not a single check-engine light, great gas mileage, drives perfect.
When I first got it, the car had been sitting for a little while. I got it inspected by a trusted mechanic a friend recommended who lives in the area I found the car. He said all the fluids were low and the oil should be changed, that was the only issue.
The only downside with this vehicle is the seller was unable to provide any maintenance/repair paperwork (if the mechanic inspection did not work out, I would have not bought the car). I have no proof that this car has been meticulously maintained by the previous owner. My goal now is to maintain it the best I can. Right after I purchased the vehicle, I got a fresh oil change and complete fluid top-off. I know the Honda manual recommends oil changes every 5k miles.
My question is, because of the fact that this car may not have been maintained properly, what can I do to maintain it myself besides oil changes and such? I’m new to this stuff so any info is greatly appreciated 🙂 .
Thanks guys for the help, let me know if you have anymore questions, or would like to see pics banana: !
