I recently inherited a Chrysler pt cruiser, and I have been having some issues with it. It is stuck in limp mode. I only know what its called because I have done so much to the car trying to fix it based on videos and online forums.

So far I have replaced spark plugs, plug wires, air intake, camshaft position sensor, and cleaned the throttle body.

I still am having the limp mode and cannot drive the car more then 10 feet without it stuttering and stalling, and as soon as I hit 2500 rpms, even when sitting, it starts to stutter so I know its in limp mode still. I also do not have a check engine light on, so no codes to read.

Any suggestions or a way to fix this would be greatly appreciated, I am running out of option besides taking it to a dealership, and I don’t have the money for that.

Looks like I’m off to the Chrysler dealership at some point. Ugggggh. I’ll post back afterwards to see if it worked or not.

              Just an anecdotal possibility.
Could your cat be bad or exhaust clogged somewhere? My brothers Equinox had a similar issue (not as bad) and that was the problem. It did throw a code, but it was for engine misfire and not the cat…so even these ODBII computers can’t always be trusted. Hopefully it is just a computer update…that would be a lot cheaper.

That’s another problem, I’m not getting any codes to lookup. I just can’t drive it without going to limp mode and stalling the engine.
