Hey guys, new to the forum, but I wanted to see if I could get some help from you all and Eric! My question involves me possibly adding a transmission cooler to my 04 TL. I belive Eric did this with his old Oddessy in a video… My car has 101,750 miles on it. It hasn’t had any issues so far (knock on wood) but I read on the Acura forums adding a cooler could be preventative maintenance. I’ve spoken with a transmission shop and a Honda tech and they both explained to me the 04 TLs actually have a heater/cooler for the fluid already and it wouldn’t really be much help to add another cooler. They also said it could confuse the ECU.

So, the trans shop and the Honda tech said it really would help much and it’s also a real pain to install. I wanted your opinion though. I just got my fluid changed and keep up with that regularly. I’m trying to extend the life of the trans as much as possible! Let me know what you think about my situation!

are you trying to race it….. I dont think my self you would get very much of an advantage for adding it… cars uselly on the radiator have one side coolent antifreeze other side transmission fluid… so your car does have a cooler built it most likely… the rubber side is the coolent and the steel pipe side is the trans… I dont see anything that would cause the computer to freek out unless your planing on add like 20 radiator to your car… then the computer might be wundering why the fuild is taking so long to heat up… I think , I dont know havnt payed to much attachin to his build but I think eric is plaining on racing it… so in that case it might help… racing would put a high temp on trans for a short time because of all you power you need
