Recheck electrical connections. The first place I’d be looking after the starter is at the transmission. Since you’re starting the van with a screwdriver, look at that wire for the solenoid S terminal. Then look to see if you forgot to plug the connector back in for the transmission range sensor. If that doesn’t fly, how’s your skills with a wiring diagram and a voltmeter?
ok where would i fine a wiring diagram and i need to get a voltmeter i know how to read a wiring diagram im just not use to all these new cars,van and trucks i like working on older stuff this t he newest thing i ever work on
I peeked at the diagram and you can start out by checking out two fuses in the under hood fuse block. There will be a fuse diagram on the inside of the lid that will map out the fuse locations for you. You are looking for two 10 amp fuses. One will be the PCM/CRANK fuse and the other will be the PCM/ABS fuse. For now, just pull them both and inspect them visually. The crank fuse will only have power while cranking anyhow. Another thing you could do is to pull the starter relay and swap it out with another identical relay in the fuse block if you can find one that’s the same. If you know how to identify the 30 and 87 terminals of the relay, you could also jumper wire the correlating terminals in the fuse block. That can help narrow down which side of the relay the problem is on.
Yours probably has a transmission range sensor. Did you ever check to make sure the connector is plugged in?
