I have a 2003 nissan altima that won’t start after running it, absolutely no crank, I have push the gas pedal to actually get it to start up again but this process takes about 15 mins to get it to start. It happens randomly. Also pulled out a code p0335 crankshaft position sensor. Can that be the problem causing this issue..
      Can you please help
      Thanks

yes, that is the problem. or the wiring/connector. way less likely the computer or damaged “reluctor ring” on the crankshaft or whatever. and it’s probly not the timing belt (since your car has a timing chain.) look for oil in the connector maybe, too. idk.

get your hands on a manual and a multimeter and you can at least test the resistance of the sensor. also, if replacing, consider purchasing from the junk yard or an online parts store like Rockauto. cheaper that way probably.

i think to test the resistance you just test each combo or pairs of pins in the connector (1 and 2, 2 and 3, 1 and 3) and you’re looking for any resistance other than zero or infinite on each pair. so a reading of zero or infinite would indicate need for replacement. confirm that with a manual and/or use the same test on a new one.

btw a new sensor is under $35. report back what you find out!

looks like polarity might matter when checking resistance.

and here’s a cheap multimeter if you dont have one

sensor is on the front side of the motor, maybe in the oil pan. idk. 3 wire connector. one little bolt holding it on. just remove bolt and pull sensor firmly. not sure if oil will drain tho. might be good time to change oil. do not over tighten and snap that bolt off when reinstalling!

The cps will cause a no start condition. If the cps is bad
also replace the cam position sensor.which is recommended
by Nissan. also only use Nissan parts not aftermarket. You
also say your car won’t crank? Did you kill the battery from
              cranking it?

why would you replace the cam position sensor? and where does Nissan recommend that?

There was a recall on the cps and cam sensors. When you took
the vehicle in. Nissan was changing both sensors. You don’t
have to change both. But its cheap insurance.

The crank sensor on those cars are a high failure rate item. I assume that you mean the engine cranks but won’t start. If i had to diagnose that car i would scope the crank sensor to confirm my suspicion and then replace it.
