Ok. when I turn the steering left or right from stop to stop there is a rhythmic perfectly timed bump, bump, bump. The steering want to fight me ever so slightly at the end of a full turn. I observed the reservoir and it is slightly bubbling. there is no leak observed at the reservoir or the lines leading to the pump, the pump itself, or the gearbox. the boot covering the drivers side of the rack closest to the gear box is partially damp on the bottom but not dripping. the reservoir is not low on fluid. there is however a gurgling noise that can be barely heard from inside the car and heard well while the engine is running and I am under the car near the rack.

I also noted that the passengers side cv boot is slinging grease and needs replacing. this looks fairly new and doesn’t click as I ride down the road or in sharp turns. Could this be causing the bump?

      Thanks Friends,

      Michael O

You need to replace the cv axle boot if you have the tools to do It or buy a new cv axle if you can’t find a axle boot. The rack should not be damp and the reservoir should not bumbling. You probably have a small rack leak. Replacing the rack can be costly if you don’t search on eBay the lowest car dealer oem part (oem It’s a direct fit for this. You can use a <font color="#0044ff][size=4]power steering fluid with stop leak[/size”> to hlp you prolonge the day of the part replacement.
