So I just got done replacing the tranny in the odyssey and noticed it was leaking. It was leaking from the passenger axle seal. I pulled the axle out some and saw that the seal was in crooked and half way out. I was pretty upset about this being that the seal came installed in the new tranny, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe I messed it up when putting the axle back in, even though I know this was not the case. So I got a new seal from Honda and installed it and now its leaking still. I lubricated the seal inside and out, and tapped it in flush with a socket the same size as the seal. If anyone knows about the passenger axle it is fixed to the back of the engine, so it can only go into the differential so far. It almost seems to me that it isn’t in far enough, but when I put it in it goes in all the way, but it seems like it could go in another 1/8th inch. There isnt any adjustment for the length of the axle between the bracket on the engine block and the differential end of the axle is there? Am I installing the seal too far? Is my axle bad? It didnt leak with the old tranny. Thanks in advance for any assistance!

try pulling the axel out and see if there may be some metal flashing inside keeping it from sealing properly

I looked when I changed the seal yesterday, all I noticed was the paint line from the reman process. I honestly think its leaking on the inner part of the seal against the axle.

inside the seal around the lip should be a metal spring. If that spring is missing the leak will not seal.

The spring is there, it was on both of them. Does anyone know how far the seal is supposed to go in? I read that it should be flush with the housing, and I have read that you just tap it till it stops, which is what I did.
