Hey! anyone who can help me with this? I have a 2003 Honda CRV k20 engine, I’d like to manually adjust idle supposedly by turning a plastic screw somewhere the throttle body or intake manifold, but so far I can’t find one. I haven’t thoroughly looked for it, so far does anyone know where its located?

      Rev till your wallet blows!

What is the problem with the idle? What does it idle at warm?

After several miles and after being at operating temp for 15 minutes or so, the idle speed is 600 rpm. This seems kind of low—-should be closer to 800 rpm. Also when I remove my foot from the accelerator and depress the clutch, the idle speed seems to undershoot and thus the engine dies. It starts up OK, but then it dies again following another idle rpm undershoot. After I start the engine, it will idle forever at about 600 rpm. This rpm undershoot continues until operating temperature is maintained for about 15 minutes.

I am quite sure this adjustment was discontinued on that engine in 2001 or slightly before. I also have a 2003 crv with a low base idle that I would love to adjust.

My 2003 Honda CRV does not during the first 15 minutes or so after a cold start. It will die at intersections/stoplights 4 or 5 times. After about 15 minutes of driving the engine will idle but not very well. When I decelerate and take my foot off the accelerator, the RPM dips below 600 momentarily. Since the engine is warm, it recovers and idles at 600 RPM. If the engine has not been run for at least 15 minutes (starting air temp is over 108 degrees here in Arizona) the engine can’t recover from the RPM undershoot and dies.

              To date: I have
              1) Replace the IAC
              2) checked for vacuum leaks using propane
3)verified there are no bubbles in the coolant
              4) Replaced the oxygen sensor in front of the cat
              5) Replaced the MAP sensor (the old one was bad)
              6) relearned the idle several times

All of this has resulted in absolutely no change. There are no CELs set, and never have been for this problem. I just returned from a 5000 mile road trip. The engine ran rich and my MPG dropped from a normal of 26 to a mere 21. The exhaust pipe is pure black on the inside. This is a rich condition. At highway speeds it seems to run OK, but a noticeably reduced reserve power for passing.

This is the standard 2.4L iVTEC with a 5 speed manual transmission.

Does anyone have a clue? or at least a next step>?

For some of you having issues with these:
                1. If there is an idle adjustment screw on it, don’t ever touch it. Just don’t. Unless you like throwing money at the dealership to reset everything for you.
                2. Sensors and actuators like IAC, TPS, MAF, and O2 should be replaced with an exact OEM part. Not the part that AutoZone tells you is an OEM replacement.
