I have a 2003 Honda Accord V6 Coupe and I have a bad ELD. Is there some way to replace just the ELD without having to replace the ENTIRE fuse box? Quite annoyed that Honda would force you to spend $650 bucks for a part that’s maybe $40. Also, will just leaving it be ruin something else? Right now all I am experiencing is the headlights dim and get bright and so on. I have seen one video online with someone using a CRV ELD and taking apart the fuse box and putting the CRV ELD in it’s place. But, I don’t need other issues if you know what I mean. Any ideas? Suggestions? I don’t have that kind of cash laying around but if it needs to be replaced so that it doesn’t Muck up something else and cost me more money I will borrow that money.

      Thanks,

      Chris

Maybe you could find a used one at a salvage yard.

I thought about that but, the service bulletin said that ALL 2003-2004 Accords are effected – so I fear getting another bad one. Honda really needed to make this a RECALL instead of “service bulletin” (Honda has irritated me for the first time)

I do not know how wise this is, but this guy made a bypass for the load detection.

It seems like he knows what he is doing and the theory sounds very solid, but I do not have enough experience with Honda systems to say whether this is a good work around for the ELD system.

first of all I what to say you have a beautiful ACCORD Sachi_WI love the Red Pearl color. anyway I think my 03 ACCORD EXV6 4 door sedan might have a bad ELD to because I noticed when I drive at night with the head lights on. and come to a complete stop. The lights are dim and then as soon as I accelerate they come on brightly. same thing when in park and idling my headlights and even my interior lights are dim. I thought it could be my alternator that has the voltage regulator in it could be bad but I just installed a New Factory Honda (DELPHI) Alternator part # 31100-RCA-A01 but cant really diagnose it property because I don’t have the HDS.

if you’re slightly handy with a screwdriver, you can unplug the fusebox and open it up and replace the ELD. They’re just $28 on eBay. They slide right in, once you remove about 8 screws and snap tabs.
