yay.. i finally get to work on my own car banana:
2003 Ford Crown Vic CVPI 4.6L V8 (W engine) 85,000 miles
got a pretty hard check engine light this morning on the way to school… blinking CEL which eventually went solid. Just pulled the codes and this is what I got:
PCM
- P1000 [see attachment from alldata]
- P0457 replaced gas cap
- P0306 (i believe this is the culprit)
VAPS
- B1318 Low Batt voltage: I run a power inverter w/ lots of accessories, batt load test is good
- C1445 vehicle speed signal circuit failure – ABS module
[li]U1026 SCP data fault for engine RPM…?? (definition not found in alldata)
I believe the cause of the shuddering and subsequent CEL this morning is a result of #6 misfiring. As a quick test, I have already listened to the injectors and they all sound good, thus eliminating the need for any further fuel system diagnostics. I’m about to do a power balance (hopefully without shocking myself) and see if there is a noticible difference. Then I will pull and test the coil and remove the spark plug for inspection.
Pertinant History:
Just got back from a pretty serious road trip, probably put 1,500 miles on the vehicle over a 3 week period.
