Hello and thanks for the forum. I am trying to troubleshoot a problem with my 2003 Toyota Camry. I have 243K on the car and its been a champ. Recently, When i put in reverse, the car clunks and kind of jerks. I had a friend suggest that maybe the motor mounts were bad. I found all of them and they look to be ok and the engine doesn’t rock too bad in the compartment. I haven’t pulled the engine mounts off and inspected them yet, but just on a basic inspection under the car and in the compartment (There are four), the boots look good. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

does the clunk happen when the car “Shifts.” in to gear or does it happen when you go to back up? is the clunk more of the car jerking or more of a noise?

Thanks for your answer. I really appreciate it. I guess it would be easiest to describes to sat that when i put it in gear, it lurches and clunks.
