      Hello fellow ETCG forum members,

I was wondering if any of you guys could help me out with a problem that has been plaguing my family’s mini van (2002 Toyota Sienna CE). So when I am driving and signal either left/right, the blinker indicator blinks for about 4 seconds, then shuts off and stops blinking without having turned the wheel left or right. And when I actually turn the wheel while driving it makes it usual “click” noise to indicate that the signal has turned off. I’ve checked the bulbs and hazard light button and they all work fine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I don’t know your vehicle specifically but your problem sounds like a bad flasher. When you activate the emergency flashers, does the same problem happen? Flashers are inexpensive and easily replaced devices, usually under the dash, that turn the circuit on and off every second. You want to find a repair manual for your vehicle, preferably a manual made by the manufacturer. You can often find inexpensive copies of the dealers manual on ebay.

          Hi spelunkerd,

Thanks for the quick reply but the flashers work fine its just the signals that are the problem. I will definitely use your advice. Thank you!

I’m also of the opinion you should check the flasher. You might try switching the hazard flasher with the turn signal flasher to verify that theory. Normally they are both the same part, it’s just a matter of swapping them out.
