Helping a friend fix a 2002 Toyota Camry but this one is kind of strange. It doesn’t seem to have a transponder and this is the 2AZ-FE 4 cylinder engine.
You can turn the key to all the positions, and the voltage seems to read fine across all the contacts. Even in the start position it gives off 12v in the right spot. The radio doesn’t turn on, the odometer doesn’t come up, the heater/ac unit doesn’t turn on. Headlights, interior lights, etc work but the key doesn’t seem to do really anything except for illuminate one or two of the lights in the cluster.
I’m working on getting a better wiring diagram to trace this stuff out, but does this sound like some kind of body control unit or ecu issue? I’ve fixed no starts plenty of times but this car seems to have some kind of body control unit tied in with relays etc. Apparently the car just randomly had this problem after sitting overnight.
Any ideas? Thanks
