I just put new calipers, rotors, and pad on my stratus. It is now making a grinding noise when going down the road but quits when brake is, applied. Sounds like pads are lightly rubbing on rotors.
I have had it apart several times and can see nothing rubbing. There is no dust sheild to rub, pads can go only one way, caliper seems to be functioning properly

What brand/type of pads, rotors, and calipers did you use? I own a 2004 stratus, and from your description it sounds like something is dragging. It’s possible you received a warped rotor from wherever you purchased them. Also, it could be a bad wheel bearing causing excessive runout (and your noise).

Here’s a short checklist of things I ask myself when I’m doing anything brake-related:

Have I used a c clamp to move the caliper piston back fully before seating the pads?
Have I replaced the brake hardware (like the anti-rattle spring on the caliper)?
Have I used antiseize on the relevant surfaces?
Have I clean and properly lubricated the caliper slide pins with a silicone paste or equivalent lube?
Have I properly torque the caliper slide pins and mounting bracket bolts?
Have I properly bleed my brakes?
Have I check the lateral runout on the wheel bearings before installing the rotors?

I used dualistic brand (cheap) but it’s a constant grind, if it where the rotors being warp it would come and go as it reaches the bad spot. Also wheel bearing and cv axle are new. If I remove caliper and spin the wheel it is quite but with caliper on it makes noise it definitely cause by pad to rotor contact.

Cheap pads give cheap results. Put a set of ceramic pads
on the car. Wagner thermo quiets advance auto.
