March 30, 2012 at 11:00 am #438562Welcome to the forums!
I have never heard of having to remove the heads either.
March 30, 2012 at 11:00 am #438563Hey bud. Here’s Eric’s vid on a 4 cylinder Accord EGR passage cleaning:

And another on a V6, which I know doesn’t apply:

Hopefully these point you in the right direction, and notice there is no pulling of the heads. Good luck bro.
April 1, 2012 at 11:00 am #438564Thanks for the response guys. This engine isnt the same as the old ones. I miss understood what I was reading, the head doesnt have to come off to clean the EGR passages. I would have to take off the intake though. Seems the EGR passages on these engines are on a “spacer” between the intake manifold and the head. So has anyone used the SeaFoam in a vacuum line?
April 2, 2012 at 11:00 am #438565+1 on not having to remove the head to clean those. Just curious do you have a code for insufficient flow?
April 3, 2012 at 11:00 am #438566Nah, just being pro active. But I dont want to take the intake off so…. Really just need to clean the IAC valve and the thottle body. Keep getting random missfires.
April 3, 2012 at 11:00 am #438567Heres a video to help narrow down the random misfires

April 3, 2012 at 11:00 am #438568Is the CEL on for P0300?

I agree. Are you getting a CEL? Taking the intake mani off isn’t a horrible job, you just have to be careful. Why do you think you are having misfire issues?
April 5, 2012 at 11:00 am #438570Don’t fix what ain’t broke, words to live by if you asked me. As for the misfires start with the ignition system, it’s very important to use OE parts on Honda ignition systems so be sure to use NGK or Nippon Denso spark plugs and nothing else. If you don’t find any issues there you might check for vacuum leaks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9CPqbaSgcok+April 6, 2012 at 11:00 am #438571Believe my ignition system is fine. I will have misfires on cold start up here and there on all 4 cylinders. Idles a little rough sometimes. Runs great the rest of the time. I did get a code for the EVAP system yesterday. Could the EVAP system cause problems like this? The first thing I am going to do is clean out the IAC valve. The car has 260k on it so it wont hurt.
April 7, 2012 at 11:00 am #438572Evap code shouldn’t cause idle issues. Intake leaks, poor spark, air in the cooling system etc could though. I’ve heard (read) Eric say repeatedly that he’s never had much luck cleaning IACV’s though. Just a heads up.
April 9, 2012 at 11:00 am #438573I haven’t seen an evap code cause a problem like that, it sounds more like a mixture issue such as a vacuum leak or something. I’ll also stress how important it is to use OE Honda ignition parts, they really don’t react well to aftermarket parts in my experience.
