Hey everyone!
I have some questions about an 02 Monte Carlo with 122000 miles on it and the 3.4 V6. From anywhere between 25-40 mph, when driving with just enough throttle to maintain the speed on flat ground, the RPMs will drop from 1500 down to around 1000 and it sounds like the engine is lugging. It seems like the torque converter is constantly locking and unlocking. Should there even be lockup at such low speeds? Also, it seems like the RPMs drop when I’m on the gas and go up when off it. Does this make any sense? This transmission is NOT slipping, as it makes nice solid shifts without RPM spikes between gears. The fluid isn’t low, and is only slightly dark, nothing bad. There are no warning lights on nor codes stored in the system. I’ve read that a dirty MAF sensor can cause these trannies to act weird like this, is there any truth to that?
Thanks a lot in advance for the help!
