Question #1: there are no markings on the dipstick for the transmisson, so how do I know how full or empty it is?

Question #2: I realize that honda is phasing out atf-z1 and the replacement is atf-dw1, should I try and get a hold of atf-z1 or should I switch to atf-dw1?

Question #3: I haven’t changed the transmisson fluid for 6 years, the car has 96,000 miles. Now should I just drain and fill the transmisson or do a complete flush (drain, fill, drain, fill, drain, fill)

      Thanks,

      Joey

You will need to consult a service manual on how to check the level or wait for Eric or someone else who knows the correct procedure. Did you try searching on Google?

You should be fine with the upgraded ATF-DW1.

As for servicing the transaxle without knowing the prior service history for the trans, it will be a roll of the dice. Some people prefer to leave the old fluid in as trying to change the fluid can do more harm than good in some cases.

        Again all service history dependent.

DW-1 is fine so no worries there. This video should help with the rest.
