A couple months ago, the SRS light on my ’02 accord went on. The car has 154,000 kilometres, I owned the car since new and never played with any of the seat connections, airbags,etc.. I poked around on the internet and came across this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yv0KNcoGE-E . I was just wondering if “diagnosing” procedure applies to my car as well before I mess up something.

Have a nice day – thanks for looking,
      Joey

P.S. as a bonus, the innards of the car has only been seen by hands of the mechanics at a honda dealership

Your best bet is to have any codes read and diagnose
the problem. you may need the dealer here.unless you can
find a qualified shop.be careful trying to work on this
yourself.you could deploy the air bags.

As a man who has replaced the SRS unit on his Honda I would suggest that if you have only had a dealership look at it then take it there and see what the issue is. I believe a lot of the restraint system is covered by hondas lifetime SRS system warranty, meaning if it was a seatbelt or airbag that was defective they will replace it free of charge.

If you search around the internet there are ways too reset and pull codes from the SRS light but the procedure varies on model and if you do not feel comfortable doing this then I would suggest leaving it for a professional.

I went ahead and pulled the code and it was code 93 (What do you know! Drivers seat belt receiver)
I’m going to call the dealership to see if they still cover it, although my warranty book says that (at least in Canada) all SRS related components are not covered after 5 years. But i’ll see what I can get them to do. As a side, I did find the part on Honda Parts Cheap for $47.62, but I won’t get ahead of myself until I reach some sort of conclusion with my Honda dealership.

To be honest that’s useless because if it’s your seat belt buckles they have a lifetime warranty from Honda and you can get them replaced for free.

Seat belt. My 2003 and 2004 Accords both had this issue. I noticed that when you take the seat belt off and the dummy light does not show up on the dash that’s probably the bad buckle. Honda replaced mine for free.

It’s only seat belt components that are lifetime warranty not the SRS components. Since it’s a seat belt failure Honda will cover it.
