When it’s raining, my speeder tends to stop working. Stop working in the sense that it suddenly no longer responds to input and the car then “locks” to a state of elevated idle at about 1400 rpm. So I can “limp” back and forth between places with the car, at a maximum speed of about 60-70 km /h in 5th gear. When the car has been standing still for some time, for example, overnight there is nothing wrong and I can continue without issues … until it rains or I have driven the car through a car wash. So obviously its a fluid related issue, but what and where I don’t know, or whether the speeder needs replacing because some of the seals or what not has worn out so that water gets inside the electronics.
When the fault is present I can pull the following fault code with VCDS:
18047 – Accelerator Position Sensor 1/2 (G79/G185)
P1639 – 35-10 – Implausible signal – Intermittent. But I am unsure whether or not it actually provides some valuable intel.?
