Is it necessary to remove the master cylinder in order to replace the power brake booster in a 2001 Sunfire or Cavalier? There just doesn’t seem to be like there’s enough room to maneuver the booster out.
Assuming the master cylinder can stay in, how much stress/force can I apply to the brake lines when moving them out of the way?
And then on the other side of things, if the master cylinder does need to be removed and the lines & holes immediately plugged; what are the chances of air getting into the lines upon reconnecting them?
The Haynes manual is pretty wishy washy about if it can be done, simply saying ‘move the master forward and pull the booster out; but if there’s any strain on the lines remove the master cylinder’.
Thanks!
