      Hello Guys,

I have a 2001 Mitsubishi Galant. When I bought it it had rusted discs, so I changed the discs and pads to a new set of Brembos. After a while they started to vibrate when I was braking. They were machined several times, but vibrations came back. I decided to put on a new set of discs and pads, but now I choose Textar. It’s been few thousand miles since then and the vibration is back. It happens only when I’m braking, so I’m thinking it’s the brakes again.
What I checked until now: – bearings are ok, ball joints are ok, some suspension parts were changed where it was necessary so it also ok now.
What I’m not sure about: – can this be caused by alignment issues?

Any ideas why this happens? I’m not the guy who stresses the brakes, so I do not think it can be the issue….

When you changed your brake pads did you notice any uneven wear? If you did it might be your brake caliper, sometimes the piston gets stuck and causes shutter or vibrations when braking. Also, making sure the slide pins on the caliper are properly lubricated, I use anti-seize on the pins and haven’t had an issue.

          Hi,

          Thanks for the tips!
When I did it last time, I checked the piston and it was moving easy… I’m rebuilding the calipers next week, machining the rotors and see what happens next.

            Not knowing certain information:
I know this is a subjective question,
How hard are you on the brakes?
Most people automatically say ” Ohh.. I’m never hard on brakes ”
My response ” your never hard on brake compared to who or what? ”
            As i said …subjective question.
Driving habits are a major point.

Do you happen to drive through many puddles?
Extreme temp changes can warp rotors

What is the nature of the vibration? Do you feel it through the brake pedal, the steering wheel, or through the car’s body/sheetmetal?
