Hi everyone, I’m have a 2001 Mazda MVP minivan the transmission was rebuild 2 years ago and have a regular maintaining every 30.000 miles (filter and fluid) not flush. Before winter with not acting up reverse stop to work. The stranger symptom is that gos forward in reverse,neutral,drive,2,1 . I’m think maybe the neutral safety switch go bad. But before buy it I’m would like to have other opinion. Thank you for you help.

Depending on the layout it is a possibility. It really sounds like the transmission is only getting one signal. Is the gear indicator mechanical or electrical? Is it engaging different forward gears, or just one? If it’s in manual 1 or 2 (aka low) it shouldn’t shift.
If you can get to it, you can probably check the outputs to see what it’s telling the computer. But you will need a wiring diagram for that. Unless you can find a cheap and easy junkyard part and switch it out to see if there’s a difference. I don’t know anything about the drive train in those, but transmissions and likely even the switch itself are usually the same part across several models. If you can find a listing for your specific part, you can try to find the same part on a different model to see if the numbers match.

Chances are the clutch packs have burnt and fused together. What is the fluid condition and level? Color,smell.
