Just bought 200l Lexus is300 with 2 jz egine everything is stock.ok I drive it to work probably around 15 miles a day runs good no problems..so Saturday I decide let’s go to caffeine an octane which was about 70 miles.i put around 170 miles on it.outside temps were around 75-80 as I just about got home I felt it trying to shut off at red light so I through it in neutral pad the gas really fast get it to review up an drive home.now get home put it in park let it or should I say try to idle it spits sputters an dies but no cel light on.so I said forget it went to dirt track watched some racing car seat for about 4.5hrs so I crunk it let it idle for 10 minutes no problems.i will say I let the fuel get lower thank I like, temperature never got over half way.i figure it’s probably a fuel issue .just looking for starting point.thanks in advance

When were the spark plugs and wires last replaced? Could be that. Could be a MAF sensor. Could be IAC or throttle position sensor. You’d have to do more testing. The cheapest thing to try first would be cleaning the MAF sensor. Most auto parts stores sell MAF cleaner. If that doesn’t do it, I’d replace the plugs and wires (and check that the coils (or distributor) are working properly).

I would check for codes first to see if you have any pending codes that have not set the light on yet. If no codes I would look at fuel trim data when the problem occurs and see what your fuel trims are. You could also check fuel pressure while problem exist. That would be my starting point
