I have a 2001 Honda CRV SE and I am having a flashing D light transmission problem to were I only have 2nd and third gear but no 1st and Overdrive. When I take off from a dead stop and the car is on Drive it starts from 3rd gear. If I manually shift it into 1st it actually shifts to 2nd and when I manually upshift to 2nd it actually shifts to 3rd. I bought the car from Lexington KY about 6 months ago and drove it all the way up here with no problems.. Started having this issue a few months after having it so my research online told me it may be the lockup solenoids on the top of the transmission. I was able to get one from the salvage yard and also changed the transmission fluid with HONDA fluid and I will say the fluid that came out was grey. Looked like it had been a very long while since it had been changed. Things seemed to be fine for a month or two but it has started again doing the same thing so I again changed the transmission fluid basically just to flush out anything that the previous fluid change may have worked up. The fluid change helped for a week but now EVERYTIME I get in it for the past week and put it into drive, it without hesitation acts up with the flashing D light. I hate to change out the transmission when it could just be a sensor that needs fixed and I hate to buy unnecessary sensors that aren’t the problem. Was wondering if anyone had any insite on this. Any help would be much appreciated.
