      Hi Eric:
My 2001 Honda CRV always stalls (won’t roll) when it is warm or hot. The car starts and runs ok when cold, but it will stall or won’t move after 10 min. I mean if I stop at a stop sign or red light, it won’t roll, the engine is running but the transmission won’t roll. What is your opinion??

I had a similar problem with my ’89 Honda Prelude. It didn’t start that easily as I recall but when the engine got warm it would die.

The solution was that all or some of my plugs were bad. They weren’t particularly fouled, cracked, or incorrectly gapped but replacing them most definitely cured the problem. I had no idea plugs could go 100% bad.

There were no codes to suggest anything btw. I actually discovered the problem by following ETCG’s advice to just go back to basics when you’ve got no clue. Systematically check igniter, coil, plug wires, plugs, distributor cap, battery, alternator, etc.

I have no idea about the engine continuing to run but the transmission not moving the car. You did say “stall” so I assume part of your problem was the engine would die, which was my situation.
