If it’s not 1 thing, it’s another. Just in time for the cold season, my heater stopped working. My blower motor still works and the fuses look fine. Could it be the heater motor relay? See picture….

Does the motor work in the hi, low, and medium positions? A good way to check the relay is to swap it with a known good relay such as the wiper motor relay and if it works then you know that the relay was bad. But if that doesn’t do it find out where the blower motor connector is and jump the motor directly to the battery (it doesn’t matter if you mix the wires up because all it’ll do is make the motor spin in reverse.) if the motor works then you’ve got either a bad wire, switch, or resistor. Also, is the car coming up to temp as it should?

does the blower work on all speeds? If not look at the
          blower motor resistor.

if the blower motor is working and blowing cold air look at the temp.control system…also
make sure you are full of antifreeze because that will cause heater to malfunction

The blower motor is working in all speeds, just blowing cold air. I have a 2000 honda accord and will switch out the relays to check if its bad….

If your coolant is full.feel the upper and lower rad hoses.
is the upper hot and lower cooler? also feel the heater core
hoses.should both be hot. sounds like a stuck open t-stat or
                clogged heater core.

The #1 cause of no heat is air in the cooling system. Use the above video to perform that procedure. Also as pointed out there could be an issue with the heater controls. If after you’ve bled the system and you still have no heat, check the heater hoses as suggested, they both should be hot or warm to the touch when the engine is warmed up. If not there may be a restriction in the heater core. This is not common but it can happen. If both hoses are hot then there may be an issue with the blend door under the dash OR there could be an air leak in the HVAC. Start with bleeding the system and go from there. Keep us posted.

Here is the link for the bleeding a cooling system video. It should show up right in this post. If not then you might want to see if you have the latest version of Flash installed in your browser. If there’s still an issue look up “How To Bleed A Cooling System” either on the videos page of this site or my YouTube page.

I checked the hoses, both are hot and checked the heater core inlet valve, seems to be working as well. I have not checked the blend door or the t-stat. where exactly is the blend door located?

The blend door is inside the dash and part of the ducting around and to the heater core. Usually located at the center of the console. You can usually locate it above the floor, under the dash, in-between the seats. Also T-stat shouldn’t be an issue unless car is overheating, the piping to the heater core bypasses it and ensures it will get heat for defrost before the T-stat opens.
