Hello, I replaced the heads on this 3.0, got back together, she will turn over act like she is about to start, she will cough, and then what I am assuming to be hydro lock happens. She locks up, I let off the key for a sec turn her over again she will cough twice and lock up. This repeats over and over. I have checked rechecked and checked the wire routing again. Please help, stumped in NC

        Start with the basics…
Is your timing correct / #1 cylinder @ TDC
        Is there compression
        Is there fuel
        Is there spark

Fuel yes timing is good and spark yes. Has DIS, and was running barely with cracked head when she came in, compression also is good, this is why I am stumped.

Is there a crank or cam sensor on that engine?

When my dad gave me his, it was running really rough. Through TLC it ran smoother, but still would get a misfire code. My dad had told me he had all the ignition parts replaced and the mechanic was stumped as to why it was running right. So he gave me the truck since he couldn’t get it to pass inspection. Last year I decided to replace all the ignition parts myself. I ordered the proper parts, knowing it was a flex fuel, and turns out that was the mistake his mechanic made.
