Hey there,
I have a 2001 Ford Focus with a 1.4l Zetec-SE engine (75HP/124Nm torque), and I was wondering how I could find out if it has an anti-theft device installed.
My keyfob (found this out after repairing the little bugger. Two buttons completely broke…) has a transponder in it, so I’m guessing it should have some sort of anti-theft device; however, I can open all doors with the spare key, and after locking the doors with the key and sitting in the car, I can still open all doors without any alarms going off.I then went to look for fuses, but all the places for fuses are empty, and as far as I can tell, they’re not populated with prongs at the back.
Does this mean I don’t have any anti-theft system at all?
If so, then why does my keyfob still have the transponder? Also, while putting the electronics of my key in to a new casing, which took me a good 25 minutes (with repairing the broken buttons), I did not need to re-program the key, if that says anything in and of itself.
Thanks a lot for your answers!
Greetings from Europe!
